Vintage Rare Daiya Mij Nasa Docking Rocket Space Tin Toy Working On Batteries Nr For Sale
Since you have alighted on one item from a group of tin wind up and collectable space toys, please click on 'Sellers other items' to see the, 'on going' collection which overlaps this weekend. An immaculate group of 6 Victorian Penny tin toys is being prepared for the weeks ahead.
This listing is for a very collectable vintage battery drive NASA Space Docking Rocket tin toy; [2 x 1-5 volt, batteries not included on postal regulations.] made in Japan by Daiya. It is thus dated Circa 1960. The space craft moves forward on three wheels, the rear two providing power, [ It travels at speed !]. The main space craft tows a secondary capsule behind it and whilst moving, reels in this attachment, this accompanied by suitable 'space rocket noise'. When full docking takes place electrical contacts are engaged and lights flash in the secondary craft. The rocket then releases the capsule on its lead, to trail behind some 8-10 inches and then continues as above, on a repeat routine. A double blue plastic radar disc rotates continually. This will be removed with care, for transit, and it is noted that a glue repair to the stem has been made. The total length of the main craft is 12 ½ inches/300mm, and the diameter is 3 ½ inches/90 mm, rocket stands 4 inches/ 100 mm at the tallest point, the secondary craft is 5 inches/130mm in length; all approximately. Batteries were not stored in the toy and the their compartment is clean and free of rust. A rare find in good working order and complete, but no box.
