You are offerding on the VINTAGE RUSSIAN WOOD AND BRASS CASED 2 DAY MARINE CHRONOMETER WITH SPRING DETENT ESCAPEMENTpictured below.

I AM NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS CHRONOMETER. I am not certain that these 2 wood boxes are original to the movement. I don't read Russian.

This fusee chronometer winds and ticks. The winding indicator works correctly. If you move the chronometer it can fairly easily stop ticking - I think it needs a clean and oil despite the pristine look of the mechanism. The balance staff is good. The movement has a 'break contact' or 'electric contact device' near the escapement - it is shown at 2nd picture from bottom. NEITHER the brass bowl OR the boxes have a provision for insulated clamps and contacts that would be expected with the 'break contact' - hence they may not be original. The break contact mechanism has an upper wheel (above 4th wheel I believe) which intentionally has one missing tooth providing an interruption of the constant change between close contact-open contact-close contact (thanks to experts at NAWCC.org for identifying/explaining).

One will note the other box has some holes where I presume a strap would be attached (now missing). There is a split to the bottom of the outer box. The inner box has a plaque and has 2 latching covers. There are other scuffs/scratches to the boxes and the bowl.

The outer box is approx. 13" at it's widest (at bottom) and the square portion is about 9 3/4" x 9 3/4". The inner box is about 7 1/2 x 7 3/8". The bezel over the dial is approx. 4 3/4" wide. The whole thing weighs about 18 pounds 4 or 5 ounces.
