Here is quite a find! A wonderful circa 1928 Art Deco liquor decanter/compote large woman centerpiece and two tall matching candlesticks. It is made of spelter or pot metal, has it's original patina, many dings and scrapes to paint finish but no breaks.
The woman in the centerhere measures 15 ins. wide by 14 ins. tall approx. The inside rim is marked Pat. Pend. 1928, and then three letters thatI cannot makeout very well. I see no other markings on any of the other pieces.
I am assuming this was some sort of decanter/cruet? set , as it has this metal piece inside when you lift the woman. Speaking of her...she is why I bought this!
Long flowing hair, roses garland down bother her sides, outstretched arms. There are also two cherubs on both front and back of the base of her.
Both sides, and on the candlesticks, front and back.
They are playing little horns. the candlesticks measure 143/4 ths.ins. high approx.
Candlesticks both have these inserts at top. The candlesticks are heavy and so is the woman centerpiece.
She fits nicely on top. The bases of the candlesticks and centerpiece have roses all over them.
Her long flowing hair down the reverse. Again stating this is 88 years old, and there are many small surface chipped off paint , and minor wear areas. No evident cracks on outside or breaks of metal. It has not been re-painted since its original paint was done.
One of the coolest, most delightful Deco pieces, with a touch of Art Nouveau style, I have ever seen. This came out of historic Charleston, SC, but I have no other history behind it. Shipping this will have to be in two separate boxes , as one box would be too large and heavy otherwise. So I am going to do just do a flat rate shipping cost this time.
Perfect for Art Deco, Art Nouveau, Victorian, Romantic, Shabby Chickees, and if you just love them.
