Vintage Stavangerflint Art Pottery Trinket Box By Inger Waage - C.1950 - 1960:
This is a lovely art pottery hand painted trinket box made by the Norwegian pottery Stavangerflint which stands 1 3/4 inches high and measures 3 3/4 inches x 5 1/2 inches across the top. This trinket box was designed by Inger Waage and dates to around the 1950's - 1960's. Stavangerflint first started production in 1949 and in the early 1950's opened an art pottery departmentwith Inger Waage ( 1923 - 1995 ) as one of the main designers. She worked at Stavangerflint for three decades until the factory closed in 1979. Her art pottery designs are regarded today as perhaps the most creative and distinctive that were made in Europe in the 1950's - 1960's and are highly sought after today. The top of the box has a very stylised face of a woman with flowers in her hair and wearing large earrings all hand painted in bright red, blue and black colours. On the back of the box you can see the Stavengerflint trade mark logo ofan antique flintaxe in the centre surrounded by the Company's name together with shape number 14 /49 to the side. The condition of this trinket box is very good - there are no chips, cracks, damage or repairs to be found and the colours are bright and crisp with no loss or scratches. (please excuse any photo flashes). For accuracy in my description I will point out some light crazing to the base of the box but nothing that detracts in any way. This lovely Stavangerflint hand painted trinket box designed by Inger Waage would make an ideal gift or a great addition to any collection.
