Vintage Tobin Meldrum Canvasback Drake Hollow Duck Decoy Michigan Hollow Carved For Sale
Up for sale is a large, hollow-carved Drake Canvasback decoy made by Tobin Meldrum of Fairhaven, Michigan, ca. 1900. It is in old working paint as most of these are and exhibits Meldrum's classic form with widening toward the rear of the body, thin paddle tail, and high head. The eyes are carved and this one chows great bill carving details that Meldrum is famous for. There are a few areas of paint flaking on the body and an old tight crack across the top part of the bill. There are a few old nails visible at the neck seam and a tight age check running up the front of the neck. This one just exudes classic St. Clair Flats form. Measures 16-3/4” long; 6-1/4” wide; and 7-1/4” tall. Please ask questions or for more pictures. Shipping includes insurance and is higher to Canada. Thanks for looking.
