Vintage Trifari Jelly Belly Pin Brooch Sterling Silver Hatching Duck Duckling For Sale
Trifari "Jelly Belly" Pin
Description and Item Information
Up for sale is this vintage Trifari "jelly belly" pin or brooch (!). Please excuse the glare in the photos. This pin is in the form of a hatching bird coming out of its egg. It is made from sterling silver, with a clear "jelly belly" and rhinestones. The pin measures approximately 2 inches by 1 1/2 inches by 3/4 inch. It weighs 26.8 grams. It would be a neat addition to a collection of vintage jewelry.International buyers must ask for a shipping quote before offerding or buying. Some countries have shipping restrictions on jewelry.
The back of the pin has the following markings, "TRIFARI," "STERLING," DES. PAT. NO. 135176." This piece was designed by Alfred Phillipe for Trifari, circa early 1940s (this patent number dates to 1943).
The pin looks good overall, but it is not perfect. There are some missing rhinestones. The silver is tarnished. The back side has some evidence of gold plating; this once had a vermeil finish which is now mostly worn off. The pin mechanism functions properly. The clear "jelly belly" looks very good. Please review the photos, and ask any questions you may have prior to purchasing.
