Vintage Winchcombe Teapot British Studio Art Pottery Ray Finch Cane 60s 70s:
This is a great opportunity to buy a classic piece of British Studio pottery in the form or a wonderful stoneware teapot by Winchcombe Pottery, probably made by Ray Finch.
With its lovey rich sandy colour glaze with flecks of brown, and its hand crafted cane handle it's reminiscent of Japanese pottery, as is St Ives Pottery.
The handle has been beautifully made by splitting the cane ends, bending them back on themselves fixing in place with movable woven wicker rings. The handle remains fairly rigid for use when the rings are in place, and movable when not. Just to the side of the base is the Winchcombe pottery makers mark, slightly glazed over (see photo). SIZE: 23.5cm high to handle, 15cm high to lid x 19.5cm Long including spout x 14.5 wide. WEIGHT: 750grams (unpacked)CONDITION: Near perfect with no chips, cracks or restoration. There is a very very tiny fleck of glaze missing from the side of the spout - this is really hard to see or photograph (see photos) and is probably less than 1mm in size. It's not on the end of the spout and can't be seen in use.
The handle and lid are in excellent condition.POSTAGE: I pack very well and ship quickly after payment clears.
