Up for offer is this handsome vintage 40s USA military hanky from World War II. These scarves were given as forget-me-nots by Army, Air Force and Navy soldiers to family and loved ones on the home front. This one\'s a fine silk in rarely seen lavender and features hand embroidery blazoning of the US Coat of Arms. The shield includes the paleways, argent and gules, and a chief, azure; the escutcheon on the breast of the American eagle displayed proper, holding in his dexter talon an olive branch and in his sinister a bundle of arrows, and in his beak a scroll. Over the head of the eagle is the crest, or glory breaking through a cloud and surrounding stars, forming a constellation argent on an azure field. \'U.S.A.\' in red is below. This handkerchief square measures 10\"x10\". It contains one minor pin-hole, and is in excellent vintage condition. What a coup!
