Here we have very rare piece loaded with historical significance, an issued Royal Air Force battledress blouse from World War 2. Made from a strong barathea wool in the RAFs typical petrol blue/grey colour. Hook and eye at the collar, a four button closure to the front with an incorporated waist belt which can be tightened to fit. One hand stitched popper button has been added by hand beneath this to keep a tailored shape when worn. Split button close cuffs. Lightly padded shoulders with epaulettes featuring gold relief buttons made by Cheney of Birmingham. Rank stripes on the epaulettes indicate that this jacket belonged to a Flight Lieutenant. Two large button close flap pockets on the chest, with further badges above the left side. Cuffs and waistband are lined in a grey brushed cotton.No makers/size label present, however this is commonly due to a directives to remove any trace of manufacture in case of capture. In great condition over all with minor flaws, commensurate with age. The odd small moth hole can be seen with some surface dirt from storage which is likely to wash out, but nothing detrimental to the over all quality of this piece. A great, rare collectible piece in fantastic condition.Please check measurements below carefully.
