VTG 1942 PHILIPPE TRIFARI MING FIGURAL AXE ENAMEL RHINESTONE PEARL BROOCH PIN
One of Trifari's most sought after collections is the Ming Series. There were molded glass and baroque pearl studded with rhinestone versions of several of the different pieces. Designed by Alfred Philippe in 1942 and very scarce in the marketplace. Here I am pleased to present to you a very rare version of the Ming Axe. When found, it is with the faux jade molded glass inserts. All pieces were patented EXCEPT for the "Fire Eating Dragon" and the "Ming Axe". Therefore, these pieces were only marked with the Trifari hallmark and did not say "Pat. Pend." as all the other Ming pieces do. Some models (Dragon, Fish, Horse and Lyon) were even remade by Trifari in 1965. Those 1965 pieces are easily recognizable as they bear the © symbol and the workmanship.
This version is the baroque pearl version andabsolutely lovely. When looking at the detail in the design, you immediately know WHY these pieces are coveted by collectors all over the world.
This Ming Axe isgold-plated with baroque pearl glass inserts studded with clear rhinestone chatons and teal enamel.
Designer/Makers Marks, Hallmarks, Tags:Trifari with the Crown over the "T"
Measurements:3 3/4" x 1 1/2"
Condition:Very Good, some minor enamel loss and a couple darkening rhinestones, some small nicks or scratches to the pearl coating. These imperfections only add to the character of this amazing piece. I normally wouldn't say that but this piece really does look great with the small amounts of wear. Anyhow, I priced this accordingly. Most Ming pieces are priced well over $1K.
