I am so pleased to be able to offer this large and impressive sterling silver pin by Jose Luis Flores of Taxco, Mexico. According to Bille Hougart, who is the author of The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks, Flores worked for Hector Aguilar at Taller Borda for many years and also made items for Miguel Martinez, Emma Melendez, and Rubi Ramierez. Flores is a very respected designer and silversmith and many of his designs were produced with Hector Aguilar's marks. This nice pin, in fact, is a design used by Hector Aguilar which is featured in Mexican Silver by Penny Morrill on Page 104, Plate VII-15. The pin is quite showy, nicely incised and embellished with bead balls, all closing on the back with a well working safety clasp. Circa 1940s. Nice!
