VTG Janna Thomas 2" Taxco Mexican Pluma Azteca Sterling Silver Flower Pendant
Here is a large pendant by Janna Thomas de Velarde, who had a workshop in Taxco from 1965-1980. She was a designer of some note, also producing exclusive pieces for Tiffany. One of her master silversmiths was Luis Montes de Oca, who had also worked for William Spratling and Antonio Pineda. One doesn't see her work often, but it's always of extremely high quality and very original designs.
This piece was produced with the Pluma Azteca technique, which uses feathers and colored resin to achieve a gorgeous stained glass effect. The colors are bright and vivid, with pink and green. Is totally reversible, so it can be worn with the design facing either way.
Measures 1 7/8" tall without the hanging bail, 2 1/4" with it. Depth is 5mm It's quite a thick, solid piece.
Width is 1 1/4"
Weighs 18.3 grams.
In excellent vintage condition.
Signed and hallmarked on the bail with Janna's Taxco Mark.
I have included a sterling silver chain with this sale.
