Very Cool- Advertising Tin Litho Cast Iron Plant Sprayer Salzer Seed Lacrosse Wi For Sale
Up for sale is an unusual tin and cast iron piece advertising "J.A.Salzer Seed Co. LaCrosse, Wis. - Plant Sprayer" and pictures a women in Victorian dress holding a bowl in one hand and using the sprayer in the other. The advertising also reads "Fine for indoors and out - Will spray under and over the leaves. Extra bulbs for Laundries 25 cents" so apparently you can also use this when ironing. I have never seen another one of these or anything like it. The top portion of this piece consists of the round tin advertising piece on top and a bulbous piece of wood on the bottom and are secured to the end of a cast iron handle. The bottom portion of this piece consists of another cast iron handle with an open circular shape at one end. These 2 pieces are held together and open and close at a pivot point secured with small screw and end cap. The bulbous wooden piece on the top pushes through the open circular shape on the bottom to apply pressure on some type of cloth or sponge (missing) which would hold the water to produce a spray for the plants or clothes when ironing. This piece measures approx. 7" long x 2 1/8" in diameter at the top and is innice condition with some wear as shown.
