Very Fine U.s. Mod. 1860 Staff & Field Officer's Sword W/engraved Blade For Sale
Very Fine U.S. Mod. 1860 Staff & Field Officer's Sword w/Engraved Blade The 26" mirror bright blade is in excellent condition. It has no nicks or dings and the engraving is very sharp and free of blemishes. The hilt, guard and pommel have a very nice semi-bright brass finish. The leather grip and wire are 100% intact. The makers mark "Warnock" is also sharp and clear. The scabbard is a rarer special order red velvet piece. In the Civil War and Indian War, Ames Sword Catalogs listed several types of scabbards that are available, which included nickeled and red velvet. The red velvet scabbard was a great match for the officer's red sash. The brass on the scabbard has a little discoloration and more wear than the sword. These model swords were used from the Civil War until 1902 when the standard officer's sword was authorized. Totally, this sword is in very fine condition and would make a great display piece. E-checks will be voided and cancelled by the seller immediately.
