Very Nice 1796 Spanish Colonial Cavalry Officer's Sword "carlos Iv" Reighn :
Very fine and unusual example having a slightly curved (in oppose to 99% straight bladed swords of this type) double edged blade which exhibits lively dark gray patina with areas of fine pitting, both sides with deeply struck markings, date and Carlos 4th designation, one side of ricasso is struck with a crowned R. Gilded brass hilt mounts are showing average age wear to rich gold finish, having interesting chiseled designs around the guard's rim and a lovely carved ebony grip topped with a fabulous lion head pommel still retaining large portion of original gold finish, all solid, intact and with its original steel scabbard, showing nice rich patina throughout.
