Military and Civil Life of General Ulysses S Grant, by James P Boyd, who also did the pictures in it. This is a Salesman\'s Sampler of the book. It was brought by book salesmen to promote early sales of the book. See pic 4 which explains this, the inside of the back cover. This is scarcer than the book itself, which runs over 700 pages!! This is a way thinner \'s Salesman\'s Sample or Prospectus of the book, as you can see in the last pic. It has about 80 chosen pages of the book, and the binding that the book would have, but way thinner. I researched this book a little and found mention of a foldout ad for a Bible in the back, but there isn\'t in this specimen. My camera sometimes makes things dazzle more than they do, so I want to mention that the covers are not as sparkly as photos tend to show.
