Very Rare 1930's Lloyd Loar Vivitone Guitar Post-gibson Acoustic W/ Case

Very Rare ViviTone Guitar by Lloyd Loar
The mandolins and other instruments that Lloyd Loar built while working for Gibson are well known for their quality and innovation. Today, some of them demand prices into the six figure range. After Loar left Gibson in 1924, he started a company called ViviTone which built guitars, mandolins and other instruments. The Vivitone company used many innovative designs but was ultimately not successful commercially and closed down in 1937 (as did many companies, this was in the middle of the great depression). Before the business closed it did produce a few instruments, many of which are now kept in private collections and museums due to their rarity.
Up for sale is one of these rare guitars produced by the ViviTone company. The guitar has two spruce soundboards, one on top, and the other on the back. This was a design feature used to improve the tone and projection of the guitar. I've never seen another guitar like it. You'll notice a large rectangular hole on the upper side. This is for the electric pickup system. Most of these guitars never had pickup systems installed in them (including this one). The guitars were originally sold with the promise that as soon as the pickup systems were available, the purchaser of the guitar could return it to ViviTone and they would install the pickup system. The company went out of buisness before most of the guitars could have the pickups installed.
There are a few cracks on the top and back, all of which have been professionally repaired and cleated. Also, the guitar has just been to my luthier for a complete setup and was given a clean bill of health. The guitar has a big "V" neck and a non-adjustable truss rod. The case in the pictures is included. Free Shipping in the continental USA.
Most of us will never be able to afford a Lloyd Loar Gibson mandolin, so this is your chance to own a Lloyd Loar instrument at a very affordable price!
