Very Rare 1945 Truman Signed Executive Christmas Gift - Large V-e Proclamation For Sale
Ratherrare offering .. this is the original "large"1945 V-E(Victory Europe and the unconditional surrender of Hitler's Nazi Germany) World War II proclamation dated May 8th, 1945 measuring 22" by 15" wide with only subtle original age toning on reverse and verytinyspotting to lower right border area mainly but only very subtle and overall very nice
Proclamation is personally signed in 1945 at conclusion boldly and NON-PERSONALIZED byPresident Harry S. Truman (AS President ). This is an exceedingly rare and desireable Presidential item as its the only original form of the actual V-E Day Proclamation ever signed by President Truman as President.
President Truman signed a very few examples of this ornate Proclamation for his executive staff at the White House for his "personal" Christmas gift in 1945 marking the end of World War II. This is well documented in many references including the Seeley Presidential Christmas card and gift reference book where a full page in that book shows another example from the Truman Presidential library collection.
Veryfew of these personally handsigned proclamtions existwith only a handful appearing at major sale over the last 20 yrs or so. In fact.. I have seen mostof those offered at sale and nearly all of them show "severefading to the signature of President Truman" as well as other damage or waterstaining and tears in some cases.
This particular signed example has one of the strongest signatures you will ever see offered for this exceedingly rare document and has been stored properly to prevent fading or damage and is part of my personal Presidential Collection that I am slowly downsizing. In my humble opinion, I firmly believe its one of the nicest signed examples extent period!
There is presently an "inscribed/signed" example that unfortunately is also somewhat "faded" yet is being offered right now on for $25,000.The only other signed examples from reputable sale houses likeR&R consistently show this rare signed document selling well over $12,000 or more the very few times its offered for sale and even more interesting.. every one of those showed severly faded and light signatures. Most savy autograph collectors know that the key value of most signed documents is the strength of the signature and faded signed documents will only get "worse" over the years.
This item is generally referred to as the "Holy Gail" for President Christmas collectors since the few he did actually sign were presented to his executive staff as his personal Christmas gift from 1945 (these signed Proclamations were originally rolled up in scroll format at the White House with a red/white/blue ribbon when presentedand this oneshows that characteristic as well as it was presented originally back in 1945 ) and is also coveted by Presidential and Military collectors as it represents a significant Nazi surrender Proclamation signed by then President Truman in 1945.
As I said... I have owned this item for many years and its the first time, I have offered it for sale. As you can see from my response and years on .. the winning buyer/buyer will be quite pleased at both the item and the price and more important the item is 100% AUTHENTIC and 100% AUTHENTICALLY signed by President Truman himself.
Should you desire... its also GUARANTEED 100% to pass PSA or JSA or any qualifiedautograph expert for authentication or you FULL money back PLUS will re-emburseALL your expenses.. I amthat certain.. YOU WILL BE PLEASED !!
