Up for buy it noware these Very Rare 6 Antique Austrian Filigree Handle Silver Spoons, these spoons are from the early 1800s and were made in Vienna, Austria. There spoons came out of an estate and are in very nice condition for their age.

The spoons feature beautiful filigree handles that are monogrammed with “TH”, each spoon is also numbered 1-6.

The spoons feature three different marks on the back. Two of the marks are on the back of the spoon bowl. The first mark is a letter over a circle with 4 numbers around the outside of the circle and one number inside the circle with a cross. In this case the letter above the circle is an “A”, which tells us that these spoons were made in Vienna, Austria. The number inside the circle is “13”, which stands for 13 loth, this is the way silver fineness was measured. 13 loth = 81.2% silver. The numbers on the outside of the circle are the date, these marks were used from the late 1700s to the mid 1800s. The date marks on these spoons are starting to wear because of age and are not totally legible, based on what we can make out we believe that these spoons are from around the 1820s.

The second mark on the back of the spoon appears to be a makers mark, due to the age of the spoons these marks are also starting to wear. As far as who made these we are not sure.

The third mark is on the handle of the spoon and is an \"A\" over a “T” and “F” combined. The mark stands for “Taxe Frei”, which means that tax was paid on this item. This mark is important because it again dates these spoons to the early part of the 1800s. After the Napoleonic Wars the countries that lost battles to Napoleon had to pay the fines that were levied against them. This mark was used in Austria from 1810-1824.

The #2 spoon does not have the \"Taxe Frei\" mark and has a different makers mark, not sure if it was made at a later date. These spoons measure 6” in length and have a combined weight of 92 grams.
