Bohemian Czech Glass Bowl
This is a wonderful glass bowl that I acquired at an antique estate sale.It depicts a tree scenery amid frosted glass and a ruffled mouth.It measures 4\" across and sits 3\" tall.
The bottom edge is signed \"Montanoro\".The bottom has the number 8655.
I am not an expert on this item so the following is a description and opinion as described by another dealer:\"I believe the glass to date circa 1900.The landscape decorated design is not reverse painted, nor is it on top of the glass like camero glass. The design is actually within the glass and can be seen equallyfrom both sides. The design had to be made when the glass was molten. The bowl has a satin surface.From further research, I have found that this glass is to be Bohemian and may attributed to Karl Goldberg. Karl Goldberg was a pioneer glass artist who worked closelywith Loetz.\"
Unfortunately, there is a conchoidal chip at the top edge of a ruffle. There are no cracks.(See photos for full condition.)
Although not in mint condition, I believe this piece to be rare enough to be desired by the collector.
