Rare Art Deco French Sevres Signed H. Guertik Porcelain Vase circa 1930s
The vase is hand painted all around with fish, corals, jelly fish in pastel colors.It is signed on the outside and under bottom M. H.Guertik.It has the black Sevres mark and impressed numbers.
Hélène Guertik (St. Petersburg 1897 - Paris 1937) Aristocrat fled her country of birth during the Soviet Russian Revolution of 1917. She arrived in France in 1923, after a long journey across the Middle East through Constantinople. She then painted scarves for Chanel. She was introduced to Paul Faucher who she worked for, refusing offers from other publishers. She illustrated a dozen titles including five coloring books. Sadly Hélène died in an accident at the age of 40.
