This is a 128 Pounder (Don’t let it’s looks deceive you its heavy)
You would not want this to hit your hull! (metal or wood)
This probably came from Pea Patch island (fort Delaware) or Fort Mott.
I believe the range on this shot was like 2.5 milesThe Columbiad was an enormous weapon -- it fired a 128 lb ball -- typically used in seacoast defense.
In the early 20 century this ball was dredged up from the Delaware River.
Given to a town elder and kept in a basement for about 100 years.
You don’t see these balls much outside of National Monuments
