Very Rare Late 18th C. French Hussar Or Lt.cavalry Officer's Sword By " Boutet ":
Beautiful and very rare French officer's saber dating from around late 1700s to the early Napoleonic era, manufactured by the royal arms makers, famous Boutet family, bearing inspector's markings under the crossguard and engraved attribution to the main company's maker"Boutet Directeur ArtistManufacturea Versailles"highlighted withpartiallyworn gilt finish. Beautiful and very strict design to the steel furniture, which exhibits lovely rich patina throughout, leather wrapped wooden grip showing light wear. Mounted with lightly curved large fullered blade of european damascus steel, exhibiting lovely rich patina and fine damascus patterns throughout. Solid and overall intact, still having its original leather scabbard with steel mounts, lower one with few light restorations and possibly an added smaller section. An outstanding and rare example and is atrulyhigher grade officer's weapon.
