This is a very rare new old stock factory MGA tonneau for roadster models before serial number 60637.Not for everyone. It has three mounting snaps to the right and the left of the rearview mirror. This was sometimes called the short tonneau. The rear mounting studs were located on the wood rear cockpit rail. It can be installed to most models if a long tonneau has never been installed. The short tonneau fitted just the cockpit area to the wood rear cockpit rail

We obtained these directly from a good friend of ours Alec Poole former team driver who was at the MG factory during the closing. They were all brand new stock and never installed. These were unboxed and folded there is some soiling on the exposed inner canvas on one side otherwise this piece is near perfect. You can tell an original factory tonneau by design of the zipper and the material is original Everflex. Tonneaus were sold by the factory under the following part numbers AKE1758 and8G9118 .

When these were supplied by the factory there usually was a small cloth pouch attached with a string to the lower right snap. This cloth pouch included some additional fasteners we assumed for final dealer fitting. You will note the two outer fasteners beyond the grab handles have never been installed on this tonneau. We will include these with the tonneau.

According to the Clausager book there were snaps installed along the passenger or drivers door edge. On the rear edge of the tonneau the 6 rear snaps were installed however the outer two snaps just behind the driver and passenger doors on the body will need to be installed these are turnbuckle type.We will include these as part of the sale. Now it is important to remember that this is a new old stock tonneau and will need to be installed with care and time to stretch it out. We would recommend a warm day and probably several days to allow the tonneau to stretch out doing one snap at a time. Several years ago we sold on an extremely rare ICE blue tonneau We have been collecting and selling factory OE parts for British Sports cars since the early 1970\'s. We have an extensive stock of Austin Healey MGA Jaguar and Triumph parts.We are offering this original factory tonneau at a price less than you would have to pay for a reproductionand in the original material black with tan lining . Finally check the photos out closely.

Important this is the short tonneau. It installs on cars with three studs between the mirror and the grab handle. The tonneau has short ears around the grab handles. there are three snaps fasteners on the doors and the rear studs are located on the wood cockpit rail. .There is a steering wheel pouch only found on these short tonneaus . This tonneau may be installed on cars that have no studs or holes on the rear deck area. If you have studs on the deck about 1 1/2 inches past the wood cockpit rail this tonneau should not be used.
