This is the best example of the ULTRARARE TINY BAMBOO TROUT rod6ft. 10in Phantom you will ever see. It has written on it Line 4 The Phantom, Palakona, Regd Trademark. Underneath that there seems to be a squiggle and a 10. Underneath that is the number for the rod, which is H170555208CM1I. I think it is late 1959 The rod looks totally and absolutely never used and has been a totally desirable thing to own. this rod was desighned by james laighton hardy they were made 1960-1971 i phoned the hardy museum/factory in allnwick and from the serial numbers it is DEFINITELY 1959 FIRST PROTO TYPE BATCH v rare great offering Everything is as made. Everything is perfectly straight and there is a spare tip. And a delightful, high grade, Hardy stamped, leather case for this rod. These very rare rods in this size are becoming very sought after and in this condition almost impossible to find. We are minded of a similar rod that was sold at Mullock Madeley two to three sales ago that made £2000, including commission. That was a Hardy cane bamboo four piece in similar condition to this and was UNDER 7 FT ., from memory. Such is the condition of this rod, it is showroom condition.
