Very Unique Shape (called Dohari) Japanese Lacquer Makie Tea Caddy Natsume #102:

Description:According to the calligraphy at the back of the lid (photo #1). Line 1 (right): This unique shape was loved by Gen-Gen-Sai (11th Tea Master of Ura-Senke : 1806 - 1877).Line 2 (middle): This shape is called "Do-Hari". Its direct translation is "Torso-Expanded" or "Big-Torso", i.e. the shape looks like Barrel.Line 3 (left): This was owned by Mugaku-An (a kind of nick name used in tea ceremony).
And, according to the calligraphy at the side of the box (photo #12). This was made by Munehiro, i.e. Munehiro Michiba in Kaga area which is one of the meccas of Japanese lacquerware artifact.
It is in excellent condition. No chips, cracks or marks. White (shining) parts on photographs are reflection of lightening i.e. not an issue, that happens because the surface of Japanese lacquerware is extremely smooth like miller.
