Victorian 14k Gold & Reverse Intaglio Rock Crystal Painted Tiger Stick Pin Excel For Sale
Here is a remarkable, Victorian 14K yellow gold stick pin - of a rock crystal cabochon, reverse carved (intaglio) with a tiger's head and neck - so finely painted that individual hairs and whiskers are visible, all backed by a Mother of Pearl disk to create a luminous effect. Length is 3"; diameter of cabochon is almost 9/16". The stem is signed (see photo 6) but I cannot read it (it tests 14K in acid). Condition is excellent - no chips, cracks or distracting scratches to cab or MOP; no dents or breaks to gold; paint is completely intact. Extraordinary! On Jul-25-13 at 14:26:45 PDT, seller added the following information:
I think I photographed the mark upside down. When turned over, it looks like a partial 14K (see last photo).
