This antique Victorian Civil War era floral paisley plaid print wool challis hoop skirt dress dates from the 1860s. It is hand stitched, made of a soft woven wool challis fabric, with a colorful floral paisley plaid stripe pattern design print. This beautiful dress has long layered tiered full sleeves with a flared bell shape pagoda oversleeve, smocking gathers around the top and fitted cuffs, a long full hoop skirt with inside pocket, fully lined in a brown cotton fabric and hidden hook closures down the front. The dress measures 54 inches long, with a 5 1/2 inch hem skirt which can be let out, a 32 inch waist, 34 inch bust, 15 inch back and 24 inch long sleeves. It is in good condition, with only a small fray on the front skirt waist. This is truly a wonderful piece of Victoriana textile art!
