This listing is a rare item from a bygone era -wonderful piece of Victorian engineering. It was used in the textile industry in the 1800\'s. This is a twist tension tester for yarn. It is still in excellent working order. It was made by J.H. Heal of Halifax. The mahogany base is 79 cm long and the inlaid brass measures 20\". At one end there is a handle which turns various cogs and wheels and then there is a grove through the center which holds a mounted magnifying glass and more wheels. These can be moved to different positions along the length.
