A very nice original Victorian military traveling box. Used by Lt. Col. Sprot of the 91st Highlanders for carrying his personal silver tableware whilst on campaigns. The box is made from solid oak with iron corners and brass locks. The box is solid but has some splits in the top. It retains the original suede covered internal dividers, which could be removed if desired. The box dates from circa.1860-1880. A very decorative and interesting historical piece. It measures 48.3cms long, 31cms wide and 21.5cms tall. 19 inches long, 12 1/4 inches wide and 8 1/2 inches tall.
