Victorian Pickle Castor Cranberry Swirl For Sale
Victorian Pickle Castor with Original Tongs
Beautifully Ornate Cameo, Dove, and Flower Base
Stunning pickle castor, completely original,in a gorgeously deep cranberry swirl. Lovelybase features ornately carved cameos, doves, and flowers.Thehandle, lid,and rest of the holder are also just as beautifully engraved. The tongs, also original, are equally ornate.
Cannot find a mark as to maker. Could be silverplate, but without a maker's mark cannot say definitively so prefer to characterize holder and tongs simply as metal. The holder and tongs together are a weighty 2.0 lbs.The jar itself, with the lid, weighs about 1.25 lbs - without the lid, the jar is approximately .75 lbs.
Holder measures about 12.25" tall with handle straight up and 4.5" across the base. Glass cranberry jar measures approximately 7" tall to top of lid and 3" across the base.
Condition is asnoted in the condition description, but please feel free to ask any questions. In summary, there are numerous fleabites to thejar's interior rim, wear to the metal holder, and the metal closure is detached.Theclosure, although detached from the holder, rests comfortably where it should without benefit of actually being attached - the last photo shows this.
