Thissuperb set of six, heavy, solid silver, Victorian, dinner / table forks are inthe beautiful fiddle thread and shell pattern. Five are monogramed (shown in aphotograph) and are made by Elizabeth Eaton and one is without a monogram andby George William Adams; both renowned silver smiths.

Exceptfor the usual fine surface scratching, slight wear to the tip of the tines and lightknife marks to the back of the tines (all commensurate with age and use and farless than you might expect for their age), they are in excellent condition for169 and 164 years old).

Theymeasure approximately: 20.5 cm long, 1.8 cm across the tip of the tines, 2.8 cmat the base of the tines and have a combined weight of an impressive 609 grams/ 19.58 troy oz.

Thehallmarks are: the lion passant for English sterling silver, the leopards headfor the London assay office, Queen Victoria’s head as duty stamp, the dateletter on five forks is for 1848, with the maker’s mark for Elizabeth Eaton andon the other fork the date letter is for 1853, with the maker’s mark for GeorgeWilliam Adams.
