This handsome silverplated serving tray was made by the Wilcox Silver Plate Co. of Meriden Connecticut. This late Victorian period piece dates from the 1870’s-1880’s and features bold embossed designs on the corners. The center field has a large angular cartouche which has been engraved with a single initial C. This serving tray measures 15 ¼” long by 11 7/8” wide (38.7 cm by 30 cm).
This antique tray is in fair condition, with a nice shine and only minor wear to the silver plating. There are a few tiny spots of wear on the flat central area as well as some worn spots on the high points of the raised border design (see detail photos). The tray has lots of scuffs and scratches from normal use. There is one tiny dent located to the left of the central cartouche design. The underside edge of the tray has a few deep scratches, but of course these aren’t visible when the piece is being used or displayed.
