This large triangular hand crocheted black shawl was an estate find. It is made of mercerized cotton yarn, which is dense, strong and glossy. There\'s no label or size mark. It measures about 5 feet from longest side / base of the triangle to the point at back, not including the generous fringe, and is of substantial weight -- at least a pound. The yarn is more like a string rather than a thread. It is suitable for wearing indoors, or for display / decor. That is to say, it is not a fine type of delicate lace. The fringe is not sewn on but rather hooked through stitches on the two side edges of the shawl. Near the edge at one corner there is a sewn re-enforcement where skeins of yarn were joined.
