Vin. Rare Annette Petersen Mouse With Typewriter-1978-initialed Wee Forest Folk For Sale
Wee Forest Folk- 1978- Mouse with Typewriter
Offering a very rare Annette Petersen creation- vintage 1978. This little mouse, though, suffered an accident and now only has a Left ear. If you are crafty with some clay, possibly you could repair her ! Broken area has been lightly "touched up" with a brown magic marker. ( She is now a "Van Gogh" mouse!!)
Very finely detailed with excellent painting, etc. Mouse wears a tiny pair of wire glasses, pink cheeks... blue blouse and green dress. You can even see her little fingers! Backside of her chair and typewriter feature small heart designs. There is even a sheet of paper in the typewriter roller with typewriter keys present!Blue fabric rug also! Back of desk has " Annette Petersen 1978" written on it. Also item has an Annette Petersen sticker plus a signed "AP" on the bottom- as seen in photo. Size is 1.75" tall and base is almost 2" at widest portion.
These tiny clayfigurines by Annette Petersen often sell for several hundred dollars...... this little gal is not perfect.....but she still is a beautiful creation and does need a new home! If you place herin your collection with L ear facing out.... she will be a wonderful addition to your collection! From a NO smoke home.
Here's some info off the internet re: these little mice:
"They're not Hobbits. Or pixies, dwarves, or gnomes.
Most, actually, are mice.
The creation of Annette Petersen, the Wee Forest Folk line of miniature figurines made its first appearance in 1972 with Miss Mouse (M-001). It retailed for $8. By 1997, the 25th anniversary of the Carlisle, Massachusetts company, over 400 different pieces had been issued.
Made from molds of original clay sculptures by Annette and her son William and daughter Donna, the hand-painted miniatures are still made in Carlisle in quantities that are dwarfed by the mass-production methods of most other companies.
Usually no more than 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches in height, the figurines have generated a great deal of interest in the secondary markets. Recently, a retired mouse, Red Riding Hood (FT-02), garnered a $599 final offer at an online sale, while some of the non-mice pieces are in even greater demand: a Mr. and Mrs. Owl (O-01) sold for $610, while a Grandpa Frog (F-05) fetched $1520.95!
Whimsical subject matter, fine detailing, and relative rarity combined with factors such as color variations, errors, special editions and the retirement of some pieces each year have all contributed to the escalation of prices for this collectible." Written By Michele Alice, May 16, 2010
