Collectible porcelain mini-plate/pin/trinket dish/ashtray. Weatherby Hanley, England, Royal Falcon Ware. Square shape with rounded corners. 5\" (12.7 cm). Features a pair of snipe birds standing in a marsh. The piece is in good collectible vintage condition. No degradation of the gold, chips, nicks or cracks. Under magnification crazing can be seen consistent with age. The gilt edge if perfect. The bottom is stamped with a logo, DURABILITY across a Union Jack, difficult to read letter that should say ROYAL and Weatherby Hanley Falconware. Weatherby Hanley made many small plates similar to this with pictures of animals and birds.I would suggest it be used as a trinket dish or a pin or jewelry catchall. It could be displayed in a mini decorative plate holder, or it is just the right size to display 2 or 3 mini-soaps in a powder room. If you have other small plates from this collection, this one would be a great addition. A bird enthusiast would love this. Although it could be used as an ashtray, I would not advise it. It is too sweet a little item.
