The Heddon 300 is one of the firstsuccessful muskie surface baits!
First marketed as the #300 surface minnow, Heddon recognized its success as a muskie bait in 1925-26 when the lure was re-named the Musky Minnow.
TheMusky Minnow was available in a variety of hook arrangements; two, three, four, six and very rarely, seven!
The two and three hookHeddon 300saremostoften encountered. Thesix-hook version is relatively scarce withthe four-hookerscarce to rare. Theseven-hook versionis exeedingly rare.Multiple hook 300sare probably few and far between becausetheywere considered to have superior hooking success with muskies...and muskieslive ina limited range, so fewer baits were manufactured.
Heddon 300s were originally designed for taking large bass in southern states.
