Vintage 1861 Two Handwritten Letters By Civil War Soldier With For Sale

Vintage 1861 Two Handwritten Letters By Civil War Soldier With

Two handwritten letters, one to "Friends at Home" and other to "Daughter, Fannie". Talks about failure to get paid, being treated well by the locals and says, "I think I will have to bring a little negro home for Olive to play with." It seems from the tone of the letter, he likes black people and doesn't realize this is not a politically correct thing to say. Kind of humorous. He also speaks of Henry Clay.
Letter is written in pencil. The letter to the daughter is easier to read, while the letter to friends at home is more faded and difficult to decipher.
