Vintage 1911 Victorian Paper Dolls Shaker Salt Advertising Book Collectible :
For your offerding consideration is a vintage cross-over collectible (advertising and Victorian paper dolls):
“Travels of the Shaker Salt Doll in theRoyal Table Lands of the World”.
This booklet was copyrighted in 1911 by the Diamond Crystal Salt Co. of St. Clair, Michigan. It is both an advertisement for Shaker Table Salt as well as a fascinating history of childhood in different parts of the world at the turn of the 20th Century. The pages alternate between pictures of the Shaker Salt Doll presenting foreign royalty with Shaker Salt, and written overviews of how children lived and were treated in various countries such as England, Spain, Germany, Russia, Turkey, China and Japan.
There are 15 different dolls, each with a change of outfit.
The booklet is in its original envelope which has several tears and a couple of stains on the front. The actual booklet is in very good condition especially considering it is over 100 years old. There are a couple of stains on the front, the top left corner shows a little wear and the staples that hold the booklet together have rusted with age; this has cause the cover to separated from the pages. The dolls are cut out of the booklet, as was originally intended, and as far as I can tell they are all included. On the back of each doll is lightly written in pencil which country the doll belongs with. Please see pictures and I believe you will see that that this vintage advertising collectible is in overall very good, displayable condition.
