Vintage 1920's - 30's Art Deco Openback Aquamarine Emerald Cut Crystal Necklace:
Vintage 1920's - 30's Art Deco Openback Aquamarine Emerald Cut Crystal Necklace This sale is for a substantial and sparkling, Art Deco openback crystal necklace, that is from the 1920's - 30's.This piece has an older spring ring clasp that is marked "sterling" (and works securely) but it is not original to the piece and the setting does not test positive for silver content. The necklace measures 15 1/2" long with crystals that are all 3/8" x 1/2" and are just shy of 5mm thick. This piece is unique for the emerald cut of the crystals and for their beautiful aquamarine color. Each crystal is open at the back and faceted on both sides for the maximum amount of light and refraction. There is one crystal with a small chip at one corner and a few more crystals with tiny nibbles and nicks but they are noticeable only upon inspection from stone to stone. The crystals are very fresh looking with smooth surfaces and crisp faceting that is very refractive. The setting is sturdy and substantial with a bright silver finish that looks very much like sterling. There are no signs of solder or repair to the necklace (other than the replaced clasp) and the piece has a bright patina. Overall this is a substantial and sparkling, Art Deco openback crystal necklace, that is from the 1920's - 30's that is in Excellent condition.
