Vintage 1920's - 30's Art Deco Sterling Silver Sapphire Paste Germany Bracelet For Sale
Vintage 1920's - 30's Art Deco Sterling Silver Sapphire Paste Germany Bracelet
This sale is for a finely made and sparkling, sterling silver and paste bracelet, that was made in Germany during the 1920's - 30's.This piece is marked on the back of the bracelet "sterling" and "germany". The bracelet measures 7" long, is 5/8" wide, and is fairly thick and substantial weighing 42.7 grams. The bracelet closes securely with a broad push clasp and has a safety latch that looks original to the piece. The links are short but broad panels that are densely inset with sapphire and clear paste stones in various sizes that give the bracelet a lot of texture and sparkle. The blue stones are made to simulate Sapphires and measure 3mm in diameter, the larger clear stones are just under 2mm in diameter, and the smallest stones are about .5mm in diameter. There are no stones missing and they all look original to the piece. There are some clear stones that have gone smoky, yellowed, or have gone dark and this does dull the sparkle and flash of the bracelet a bit. There is a little bit of surface wear to the sapphire stones, a tiny tiny bit of small nicks and chips, but nothing notable or noticeable except upon very close inspection. The blue stones are open at the back and faceted on both sides so they have a nice depth in color and sparkle. The back of the bracelet shows two tiny breaks in the silver, one is in the word "germany" and one is at the back of the clasp, but they are .5mm in diameter or less and noticeable only with a loupe. There is also a small break in the silver at the side of one panel, the break is not noticeable from the front of the piece, only upon inspection but it does make the link sit a tiny bit askew. Having said that it is noticeable mainly when the bracelet is laid out flat and not when the piece is worn. There are no other irregularities to the setting and the piece has a nice patina. Overall this is a finely made and sparkling, sterling silver and paste bracelet, that was made in Germany during the 1920's - 30's that is in very good condition.
