Vintage 1920's Rowe Of Gosport London England Marshall Field Child's Sailor Suit For Sale
This is a Darling 1920's - child's wool sailor suit. It is a top of the line outfit by "Rowe of Gosport - London & Made in England for Marshall Field & Co." It is a dark navy blue wool with the traditional long sleeve top with front tie and sailor collar. The pants have the front button flap and laced tie panel in the back. There are some moth holes in the shirt....several down the left front side seam area, one on back right bottom and one on right back arm seam area. Pants are in very good condition. No size tags so go by measurements below:
Measurements Lying Flat: Top - Shoulder to shoulder 15", chest 16", Length top of back collar to hem 18", Sleeve - shoulder to cuff 13"

the sailor suit really comes into its own and is the correct wear for a
good many years when it takes on the authentic sailor style, made of
real Admiralty serge, designed in regulation style, and fitted with all
the navy attachments. The children of the Royal Family in all its
branches invariably wear sailor suits of this type during the years when
they are of the right age for. it. Two firms-Rowe of Gosport and Morant
of Southampton--specialize in these correct-style sailor suits. Rowe
has a fine place in Bond Street, selling all kinds of juvenile outfits,
but specializing on the sailor suit. Both firms are actual contractors
to the Admiralty for serge, which, according to Admiralty requirements,
must be of pure new wool and dyed with natural indigo.
