Up for sale here is a very nice vintage circa 1930\'s to 1950\'s gouache on paper by Polish/Israeli artist Moshe \"Matus\" Matusovski (1908-1958). Moshe Matus (Matusovski) was born 1908, Warsaw, Poland.
He came in Palestine 1924.

He died in Toronto, Canada, 1958. (Resource: Israeli Art Center)According to Canadian Jewish Review-March 21, 1952: Moshe Matus is a son of a pioneering doctor of Tel-Aviv. He received his education in Palestine and and has spent considerable time in France, studying in Paris. Mr. Matus returned to Palestine in 1930, painting large symbolic compositions as well as semi-abstract paintings, and arousing wide interest, stimulating discussion and comments throughout the country. His paintings belong to permanent public collections such as the Tel-Aviv Museum. Mr. Matus came to the United States a short time ago to exhibit his work. One of his exhibitions was opened by the American art critic, Thomas Craven, who wrote: \"As an artist, Moshe Matus is one of the most original and talented men to come to America in many years. He has developed an extremely personal painting language which is bold and free but never out of control. In fact, his style, while vigorously in bounds, is admirably suited to the rendering of our industrial age, which he is now painting with an inspired vigor and rare dramatic force.\" Paintings by the artist belong to permanent collections at: The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas; The Museum of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Department of Art, University of Chicago; The Art Center of the Public Library, Miami, Florida; The University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida; Notre Dame University, Notre Dame, Indiana; The Public Library of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Fort Wayne Art Museum, Indiana; The Civic Centres of Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles. Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt, Brigadier-General Julius Klein, Professor Albert Einstein, Will Rogers, Jr., are among individuals who own paintings by Mr. Matus.Visible area measures 27 1/2\" x 20 3/4.
