Vintage 1930's Art Deco Czech Onyx Glass Pendant Necklace
This sale is for a detailed and striking, Art Deco glass necklace, that was made in Czechoslovakia during the 1930's.This piece is brass and is not signed but is Czech made in my opinion. The necklace measures 24" long with the pendant at 1 1/8" x 1 1/8" and closes securely with its original barrel clasp. This piece is unique for its length for the amount of detail and variety in the glass cabochons and setting. The glass is all black and made to simulate onyx which contrasts strikingly with the bright golden setting. The glass in the pendant has a very unique shape that has an asymmetrical raised square which gives the pendant a striking refraction. The links right next to the pendant have raised domed shapes that are a bit thicker than 1/4". The glass beads and brass pendants extend for the full length of the chain so the piece has a lot of texture and visual interest. The very central glass cabochon at the very bottom of the pendant sits a little askew and the setting is slightly misshapen but this looks original to when the piece was made. There are a few tiny tiny chips to the edges of the olive shaped beads by the bead holes but they are noticeable only upon close inspection. There are no other chips or surface wear to the glass - the cabs are all very fresh looking with a nice sheen. The goldtone setting is very bright and fresh which shows off all the stamped designs. Overall this is a detailed and striking, Art Deco glass necklace, that was made in Czechoslovakia during the 1930's that is in Excellent condition.
