Vintage 1940 Rookwood Pottery Vase 2072 Butterflies Soft Canary Yellow Matte:
IMMEDIATE – PROFESSIONALLY PACKED – FULLY INSURED - SHIPPING Buyer pays NOTHING for safe packing and fully insured shipping. (That is for U.S. LOWER 48 only.) Elsewhere, ’s Shipping Calculator works like a charm. All Customs forms will state the actual selling price of items shipped internationally. Four butterflies in a wide band just above the feet catch and hold the glaze in recessed areas giving each little flutterbug a sense of individuality. (I haven’t named them, but you may if you wish.)
The vase is 6” tall, and it has no chips – no cracks – no dings – and, as far as I can tell, it isn’t even crazed. However, a good cleaning is in order.
In this case, XL means it was made in 1940, rather than “extra large.” You are thinking of t-shirts. “2072” is the shape number, first produced in 1913.
More images and commentary continue below my three "Prime Directives:"
1st: I never, under any circumstances, use a reserve, and rarely do I ask for an opening offer of more than $9.00 (sometimes even less).
2nd: I never end sales early.
3rd: I don’t usually clean, repair, or otherwise monkey around with anything. I push enough dust aside to expose any flaws, but if I discovered it in some dusty attic, you can look forward to a little dust on it when it gets to your house. If it has a flaw or a wart, I'll tell you about it.
So rest easy and have some fun.
This color, which Rookwood called “Matte Yellow,” is quite hard to find. Personally, I love it, so I grin on those rare occasions when I snag a piece.
My preferred method of payment is PayPal.
