Let me start off by saying I am not an expert on this subject, but
will try to describe as best I can. I believe this vintage \"Gi\" was used for Judo, judging
by the heavy weight. It\'s a size 3, which would probably correspond to a men\'s \'small.\'
It\'s not bright white, but more of a natural, unbleached color.
It is labeled
TRADEMARK H.S.K.
MADE IN OCCUPIED JAPANI found it difficult to research because there doesn\'t seem to be very many of these around.
It\'s fortunate that this is actually marked Occupied Japan, because that identifies
it as being made circa 1940\'s to early 50\'s, during the period the allies \'occupied\' Japan.Another interesting bit of info--I can\'t say for sure, but I believe
this set may have been issued to a serviceman training in Judo, judging from
the block lettering of the last name (Hudson), in addition to the association of
Occupied Japan with the World War II era. Just a thought. As shown, this vintage Gi is in excellent condition, particularly for its age.
There is a stain near the hem on one side, as seen in the photo,
along with some damage to the belt, also shown.
The name Hudson is printed on the belt, and handwritten on the hem of a pants leg.
The \'Occupied Japan\' label is sewn onto all three items. Please feel free to email me with any questions you might have, and
Thanks For Looking!
