Vintage 1945 France Made Hermes Paris Silk Alphabet Des Metiers Women's Scarves For Sale
Vintage 1945, right out of Grandma's dresser drawer, from French fashion house HERMES, Alphabet des Metiers design, by artist Philippe Dauchez, 100% Chinese silk scarf, with "MADE IN FRANCE" cloth tag intact (on reverse side, lower right corner). Measures 35" X 34". Reads "HERMES PARIS" on lower right corner. Maintains good, unfadeddeep colors: indigo blue, hot pink, light pink boarder, touches of orange, light blue, gray, & yellow, black writing & accent, on ivory background. The reverse side indigo blue color appears to have light blue speckles, shown in 3rd photo. Original condition. Has not been washed. There are fold creases. Has not been ironed. No odors. Stitched hem. Does have a couple of vague light stains (not noticeable), shown in last two photos. The 3rd to last photo shows a tiny blue mark, to the right of the dove (print mark, from in the making?). With scarf being folded in quarters, photos 6-9 shows closeup condition. In 1937 French fashion house Hermes, introduced its famous silk scarves. The historical theme of this scarf is dedicated to craftsmen and their trades. In alphabetical order are the men and women matching their names with their profession. Photo 4 shows a square of Hermes, portraying a Sellier. 12 photos to view.
