Vintage 1950 Gibson J-45 Acoustic Guitar - Jumbo For Sale

This isa particularlynice example of one of Gibson's classic Post War flat tops. The tone exhibits the usual throaty midrange character found in better mahogany back-and-sidesguitars of the era. This instrument, however, has a more scarce high-end sweetness and balanced low-end. Its light weight likely contributes totherelatively resonant and lively character.
The action is low and even. In fact, the intact, original saddle could be slightly higher to accommodate harder playing styles. I decided to leave the saddle alone and let the next proud owner adjust to taste. I toyed with the idea of installing medium gauge strings which, without a doubt, would make this guitar bark. (This is all GOOD NEWS. Often, the saddle on a vintage acoustic needs to be lowered to offset a shifting neck angle . Not the case here! There's plenty of room to adjust the saddle height up and still retain excellent action while delivering greater downward pressure and even better tone!)
There are two MINOR condition issues worth mentioning: First, some misguided individual installed Grover tuners once upon a time. It was a clean job but I have since had Elderly Instruments retro-fit new (but period correct) machines with proper conversion bushings. Second, a barely perceptible crack (more of a "wrinkle") formed near the treble side at the pickguard edge (due to shrinkage no doubt). It wasbeautifully shored up along with two loose back brace edges while at Elderly's shop. They also leveled and dressed the frets.
The guitar ships with a new, high quality ABS hardshell case.
