You are looking at a nice older Calrad 500 C model dual crystal microphone from the 1960\'s era complete with a period Atlas DS-14 desk stand. This unique microphone was produced by a couple Japanese manufacturers including Aiwa and resembled (only in looks)the much higher quality R.C.A ribbon microphones made famous during the 1940\'s and 50\'s.
This microphone utilizes a High Z dual crystal type elements but like many of these older crystal mics it barely works. This should be used for display, repair or prop purposes only. As seen in the pictures provided this particular mic is in very good physical condition being free of any dents, fractures or heavy corrosion. The inner screens are original and look like new. This would make a very nice prop or display model to show off in the home, office, or studio. She\'s a real tight mic. You can always get the element replaced with something much nicer down the road as well if you don\'t care for the weaker crystal sound. There\'s plenty of room under the screens to work with.
Thispill micmodelis appx 6 inches tall X 2 inches wide and it will screw onto any American vintage stand as the thread is the universal 5/8. The tightening screws on the sides work just as they should as well.
There is an original cable with a Japanese male 1/4 inch connector attached. The cable was shortened for cosmetic reasons. All of the hardware is original to the mic. The mic comes with a 60\'s era Atlas \"boomerang\" desk stand that provides a stable platform for this mic.
The Atlas DS-14 \"Boomerang\" design was a cast iron base with 4 inch chrome riser and as seen in the pictures provided the painted finish looks quite nice with just a couple small paint chips. Very modern for it\'s time and has that classic space age vibe so popular in the 1950\'s and 60\'s.
The stand comes withnewer felt pads as the original were all but shot. The 4 inch chrome stem / riser has no wear to it.
The stand provides a very stable platform due to it\'s wide stance.
I\'d give the mic a solid 8 + on a scale of 1 - 10.
