Vintage 1970's Aubrey Beardsley Design Farting Belt Buckle AB-14
Indiana Metal CraftO.K. This may seem a bit crass, as it is an image that is farting! But it is classic Aubrey Beardsley, and it is also just a tiny picture from a print called "Lysistrata Defending the Acropolis".It is based on the Satires of the late Roman poet Juvenal and, most famously, Aristophanes's bawdy satirical play Lysistrata. The actual black and white drawing is from the 1890's, but this belt buckle is from the 1970's when there was a resurgence in Beardsley's art. I have added an image of the full print in the last picture, but it is not included with the buckle
It is in great vintage condition, and I don't think it was ever worn. It measures 2 1/2" x 2 1/4". It is stamped on the back: Indiana Metal Craft and Beardsley AB 14. I believe the material is spun pewter.
This is a great gift for that person who has EVERYTHING! And has a sense of humor!!
